Do Not Disturb Glitch Update...Fix?

So the Glitch seems to be much larger than before, with more devices affected on second day.

Having read a hell of a lot of forums it seems that there maybe many quick fixes but nothing that will directly fix it.

I've spoken to one Apple Genius at my local store and he didn't even know it was an issue, another one i spoke to was aware of issue but hadn't heard of a fix, he believed they (Apple) could fix it in a update.

One poster on the official Apple forum posted that it will be fixed itself by January 6th. He has worked it out for the next 10 years, however i feel Apple will definitely fix it prior to then.

Here's What he said :-

I made some tests and this issue will fix itself on Sunday January 6, 2013. It will happen the first few days of January 2014 (until Sunday January 5, 2014) if the bug is not fixed. Most first few days of most years seem to have this bug. The bugs starts on January 1st (based on the From time under Scheduled) and is usually fixed on the first Sunday of the year (except if the first day of the year is a Sunday, then it is fixed on the second Sunday). Years preceding years where the first day is a Sunday are not affected by the bug.
Let's check the next few years, this is the pattern :
2013 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 6
2014 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 5
2015 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 4
2016 : Issue not happening even though first day is a Friday
2017 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 8 (Jan 1st is also a Sunday)
2018 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 7
2019 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 6
2020 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 5
2021 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 3
2022 : Issue not happening even though first day is a Saturday
2023 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 8 (Jan 1st is also a Sunday)
2024 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 7
Etc...
The same pattern happens if you go back in time as well.
Note : If DND is scheduled before midnight, then the issue and the fix (see above) are delayed one day since it's based on the From time under Scheduled.

So clearly there will be a long term fix but you will have to wait till Sunday at the earliest. Maybe Do Not Disturb wanted the end of the week off for Christmas

iJoe advice is to simply disable Scheduled option until after Sunday. To do this Settings, Notifications, Do Not Disturb, Scheduled off.

Simply use option in to switch on and off overnight or during meetings etc.

All this comes at the same time Apple have released a new Advert promoting the benefits of DND.

Really awful PR and timing, and as one person discovered the glitch is actually shown in video.

As the scheduled time for starting is 11pm and the time in the status bar shows 10:41 and the moon icon.

All in all a stupid start to 2013 for Apple, after Antennagate, Map issues they really need to have a mistake free year.

Why Google Putting Apps on iOS is a stupid business Decision...But one that needs to be done.

So a quick search of the App Store for "Google" reveals the following (With their rivals in brackets) :-

Google Maps (Apple Maps)
Google Chrome (Safari)
Google Search (Bing/Yahoo)
You Tube (Vimeo)
Gmail (Sparrow, Mailbox (Released 2013)
Blogger (Wordpress)
Google Latitude (Foursquare/Facebook)
Google Earth (Bing Maps)
Google+ (Facebook/Twitter)
Google Translate (Free Translator Apps)
Google Drive (Dropbox)
Google+ Local (Nearby/POI apps)
Google Currents (Flipboard)
Google Shopper (eBay/Amazon)
And New This evening
YouTube Capture (Apple Camera)

So Google clearly has a iOS presence but it confuses me why...

DOES APPLE HAVE APPS FOR ANDROID?

Simple answer no. They only do two Windows computer apps which are iTunes and QuickTime and it makes sense.

If you use iWork on your MacBook and your want documents on the go, what do you buy???

An iPhone or an iPad.

GOOGLE HOWEVER HAS BEEN BACKED INTO A CORNER.

iOS has a massive user base (Last figures released 365 Million, and that's before iPhone 5, iPad 4 and iPad mini.) Thats something google cant ignore it had customers before Apple started selling phones, lots of people had a Gmail account, so it needs to please those customers.

However I don't understand why they supply apps for everything, don't get me wrong I'm grateful - this blog is being typed on blogger, but imagine for a second they didn't supply apps to iOS.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF?

You have a Gmail address. Would you change phones or change email address?
You want to use Google Maps. Would you change phones or use Apple maps?
You want to blog on Blogger. Would you change phones or use Wordpress?
You want to browse on Chrome. Would you change phones or use Safari?
Etc etc

I can imagine there is enough Google "Fan boys" out there that would change phones but Google is happily producing very good IOS to encourage people to use its products.

In my humble opinion Google will never be as big as Apple because of this, and I think the fact they make Apps for iPhone and even buy up iOS developers such as Sparrow, shows they will always be second in a mobile world.

Looks like Steve Jobs didn't need that Thermonuclear war on android.
